The idea for this facility began with a meeting between Johnson & Wales University, the architectural firm of Robinson, Green, Beretta Corp., and Agostini Construction in December, 1997. Within the next ten tmonths, this state-of-the-art facility was both designed and built. For the first time in its history, Johnson & Wales could actually host a home game.
The building itself consists of a 20,000 square-foot gymnasium where two full court basketball games can be played simultaneously. In addition, there are rooms available specifically for aerobics and wrestling as well as a full fitness center comparable to any modern fitness club. To complement the workout facilities, there are locker rooms for the home and visiting teams, a physical therapy room, and a second floor lounge area that provides a full view of the basketball courts.
